Building your Faith

Building Your Faith

I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior when I was about eleven years old.  At the time, I was attending a church that didn’t really feed me very much.  I learned very little about how to overcome REAL issues in life.

About 4 years ago I was able to move to a different state and starting attending my home church that I still attend today.  For the first time in my life, I started learning skills that I could really apply to life and problems.  I started learning how to overcome obstacles that I had battled with all of my life up until that point.

One of the most important things I learned I am going to share with you.  I was led to specifically share this miracle with you and I pray that it blesses you and that you see that God can do the same for you.

Faith is like a muscle.  You have to build it and work it out.  If I had never walked into a gym, how could I expect to try to pick up a 50 pound dumbbell and do a curl with it?  I would most likely sit there and strain myself and probably pull a few muscles… and still never lift the weight and do one whole curl.

So, how can we expect to use this faith in God when it is a muscle you may have never used or developed?  We need to develop that muscle NOW so that if something ever comes up, Your faith is ready to carry you through.

So, how do you do a faith curl exactly?  I learned this from my spiritual mother.  How can you be believing God for something huge right off the bat?  This is how many end up disappointed and then give up on God because He didn’t answer them within the time period that they GAVE GOD TO ANSWER THEM BY?

Unfortunately, that is not how God works.  I have done that in the past and the only person I let down, was myself.  So, learn from me and don’t do that.

Instead, let’s start with something small.  Let’s pick up the 5 pound weight and GET REALLY GOOD AT THAT FIRST!

My 5 pound weight was the electric bill that I had in my purse.  I took it out and stared at it for a little while.  At the time, I really didn’t have the funds to pay for it and was starting to stress over it.  It was a little bit under $200.00. So, I prayed out loud.

“God, I come before you now in the Name of Jesus Christ, and I ask you Lord to bring in the funds to pay for this bill.  You are my supplier.  You are my provider.  Just as you feed the birds of the air, I know that you will supply ALL of my needs as well.  I bring this electric bill to you now.  I am trusting in you 100% and I am truly leaving it at your feet.  Thank you in advance for all that you have done for me and all that you are going to do.  I will share of your goodness all the days of my life!  Amen!”

Then, I put the electric bill back in my purse and forgot about it for a few days.  This is the important part though.  Every time I  remembered about the bill, I would not keep asking God to provide for it, like a broken record.  Instead, I thanked him for providing for the electric bill.  And, that was it.  I didn’t stress about it.  I didn’t even worry that it would not get paid.

I also didn’t tell a soul.  Not even my husband.  Because I was trusting God and it was between me and Him.

About two weeks later, my husband received a call from someone at our church.  We had met them once in passing, a quick handshake and “hi, how are you?” and that was it.  This person had to call a few people to find out our names and get our contact information.  They said that they should have called sooner but that they had something for us and asked if they could bring it to our house that night.  My husband, kind of confused at that moment said “Sure, but we’ll see you later this week at church, we can meet you there so you don’t have to drive 45 minutes to our house.”  They appreciated the offer but asked if they could bring it that day since they had already waited so long to call us.

That night, they showed up and we greeted them with hugs.  Right then, his lovely wife handed me a handful of money.  I was so nervous that I didn’t know what to do (I’m being really honest with you), so I turned around and put it in my husband’s hands and thanked them for their gift.  They stayed a while and we visited an had an amazing time.  But because I had no idea how much they had given us… I didn’t say anything at the time to them about what I had prayed.  I didn’t want to make them feel bad because even if it would have been a gift of $1 I would have rejoiced for God’s goodness!

After we hugged and kissed them goodbye, my husband walked them to their car.  I walked over to the table where my husband had laid their gift.  I started counting the twenty dollar bills and there is was…. exactly $200.00.  I sat on the couch and cried like a baby.  For a long time!  My husband walked back into our home and asked me “what happened?”  So, I finally told him how I had really trusted GOD for the first time in my life and how HE showed up and answered my prayer!

I could not wait to see our new friends at church to tell them how God had answered my prayer through them!

When I told her everything the following Sunday, she cried and rejoiced with me!  Because that meant that they had heard from God also and that He was able to bless us Through Them.

This miracle still makes me cry today because this will FOREVER be a testimony of HIS GOODNESS!  God still answers my prayers today!  Sometimes, I find out the same day.  Sometimes, it takes a few months to find out.  But HE HAS ALWAYS ANSWERS!

I am not special.  What HE has done for me… HE can do for you!

YOU have something that YOU are believing for.  Start off with a 5 pound weight.  Learn to be patient and He will show up.  Don’t tell anyone for it is between the two of you.  Then, share your testimony with me of how He answered you.  That would really BLESS me!

Let me pray over you… Dear God, I come before you now in the name of Jesus Christ.  I pray for every single person reading this now.  I pray that you encourage them today in whatever they have going on in their lives.  Any struggles or mountains that they may be facing, I pray that you show them that all the faith they need to overcome it, is already in them.  You put it in them the day they accepted you as Lord and Savior!  Teach them to apply this faith.  Teach them how to make it grow.  Teach them how to believe in You.  I pray that you give them more peace, joy, favor, and wisdom today and everyday.  Amen!

Be blessed!
